Solution is to alt tab or view the desktop and click on the game icon on your toolbar. ETS2 VR works well on the majority of PC-VR headsets, and can also be played on standalone headsets that can connect to a VR-ready PC such as Quest 2 and Pico 4. Theres an issue that happens where the focus window shifts from the ETS2 application to the desktop. You can play Euro Truck Simulator 2 in VR by opting into the VR beta within Steam and adding -oculus or -openvr to the launch options. Also useful to know: f11 - cycle between showing ETS2 menus on your Vive or the monitor. Then you gotta tweak the graphics to suit your PC's hardware. This causes either a black screen or that weird disconnecting floating feeling where you sre in VR but head tracking etc is off. If you have a 64-bit system, also use the following option on start: 'Play ETS2 (64-bit)'. "motionReprojectionIndicatorEnabled" : true, "motionReprojectionIndicatorEnabled" : true,Īnd remove the // to enable the indicator, which will put a small graphic in the upper-left part of the headset to show that motion reprojection is enabled (this is optional and I don't bother with it): If you like you can also do the same to the line about the indicator: In my file it's line number 10 (with word wrap disabled) Steam\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\resources\settings\default.vrsettings Note: these lines won't appear until you have successfully launched the game in openvr modeįourth, you will probably need to set WMR motionprojection to "auto" in the following file: I cant see much, and as I do a lot of quick jobs (I rarely buy a truck so have no option to put a gps in the left corner) I am stuck. The bottom of the GPS is about level with the top of the steering wheel, and is making driving a bit of a faff. But, I have tried to follow the guide available on Steam, but without the -openvr launch option, it opens in the Theater Mode, and with the -openvr, it does not launch at all. I have seen others play ETS2 in VR and it looks fun. In other words make sure both of those options are set to "0". I use a VIVE, but have been using a monitor recently as the GPS has moved to dead center of the screen. I have recently (about a week ago) purchased a HTC Vive. Headset tracking outside ETS2 is not a problem. ![]() I'm even considering reverting back to windows version 1809. i would suggest to try to open the ETS2 config.cfg (with word pad or notepad++ or whatever) in your documents folderEuro Truck Simulator 2, find and set interleavedreprojection to '1' so that the game runs at half framrate and let the steamvrs motion smoothing do the rest. Third, with WMR you will probably need to make sure the following lines in your Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\config.cfg file are exactly like this: Beta and non-beta versions of steamVR and WRM for steamVR. i have also an 2080ti with 32gb ram and an 4790k. Second, due to that WinKey+Y thing sometimes mouse focus doesn't attach to the game so you can't navigate the menus without some unholy incantation of WinKey+Y and alt+tab to get Windows to put the focus in the game so you can actually use the mouse. When it first launches there's a good chance your position in 3d space will be all wrong so you will probably have to press F12 to recenter the camera, BUT with WMR there is that whole WinKey+Y thing that sets mouse/keyboard focus between the desktop and headset so it might be tricky to get it to work right with the headset on. Then when you launch Ets2 from Steam it should load into VR, but there are still things you gotta do to get it to run well and honestly it's a bit of a PITA. Add "-openvr" (without quotes) to the ETS2 launch options (right-click ETS2 in the Steam client->Properties->General tab->Set Launch Options) Install the Oculus beta (right-click ETS2 in the Steam client->Properties->Betas tab, then select the Oculus/Vive beta)ģ. Install SteamVR and SteamVR for Windows Mixed RealityĢ. Like a proper VR game? Sure, but you need to do a few things first:ġ.
